NTU Library periodically reviews its subscription-based resources, including software, using a variety of methods such as environmental scanning, studying usage patterns and surveys. In our latest review, we found:
- Most users of EndNote Desktop use the basic features to manage and organise references, which are also available in free Reference Management Software (RMS).
- The features of free RMS have improved over the years and currently meet the needs of most users. Commonly used free RMS include Zotero, Mendeley and EndNote Online.
- Researchers working on systematic review use advanced features only available in EndNote Desktop.
Based on this, the Library has made some changes and EndNote Desktop will be available on request and subject to approval with effect from 1 Dec 2022.
How does this affect staff and students from 1 Dec 2022:
- For those who already have EndNote Desktop installed on their devices - You may continue to use the software while you are a NTU staff or student.
- From 1 Dec 2022 those who wish to install/reinstall EndNote Desktop – You will have to submit a request via an online form. The request is reviewed and subject to approval. For requests which are approved, one EndNote Desktop licence will be loaned to you and listed under your Library account.
