This guide lists some major styles that are commonly used by various subject disciplines.

Citing and referencing books (ASA 7th)

Here are some quick tips on how to cite books in ASA Style (7th edition):

Books

Single author

(ASA Style Guide 2022 7th ed., section 4.3.1 p.55, section 4.3.2 p. 59, and appendix p. 127)

Reference:

Author last name, first name. Year of publication. Name of Publication (italicized). Location of publisher, state or province postal code or name of country (if a foreign publisher): Publisher's Name.

Example:

Chua, Beng Huat. 2000. Consumption in Asia: Lifestyles and Identities. London ; New York: Routledge.

 

In-text citation:

(Author Last name Year of publication: Page number)

Example:

(Chua 2000:13)

Two authors

Author1 Last name, First name, and Author2 First name Last name. Year of publication. Name of Publication (italicized). Location of publisher, state or province postal code or name of country (if a foreign publisher): Publisher’s Name.

Three authors
