Welcome to the LaTeX LibGuide!

This guide is created to introduce to the typesetting tool, LaTeX using Overleaf platform

This guide is best suited for those who have attended the Library's Latex workshops. It will help to recap the learning points covered in the workshop for participants to self-explore.

LaTeX, which is pronounced «Lah-tech» or «Lay-tech» is a document preparation system for high-quality typesetting.

Why should you use LaTeX?

  • It was built to handle typesetting of complex mathematical formulas
  • Access to many scientific symbols
  • You have full control over the formatting of the document
  • Thousands of templates for all purposes (presentations, resumes, thesis, posters, etc)
  • It is an industry standard
  • Publishers might require it when you want to submit a journal article
  • Useful for those intending to do FYP

Why Overleaf?

Overleaf is an online platform for LaTeX that makes the whole process of writing, editing and publishing complex documents quick and easy.
