Rama is a Senior Librarian in the Digital Scholarship & Education Team. He is the lead librarian for Reference Management Software training and support.
Rama started his professional career as a Mechanical Engineer. He had an interest in computer programming and decided to make a career switch to the IT industry. He moved to the US in 1997. As an IT Consultant in the US, he had the opportunity to work with different industries and companies including the Walmart and Motorola. He later moved to Singapore and joined the Disabled People’s Association (voluntary welfare organisation) as a Project Manager in 2002. At that time, web-accessibility was a new term in Singapore. In 2003, with the support of the then Ministry of Community Development and Sports (MCDS), he initiated the awareness and use of ‘Web Accessibility Standards and Guidelines‘. These set of standards and guidelines help to make web content accessible for blind people and for people with low vision. He obtained his MSc (Information Studies) from NTU and joined NTU library as a librarian in 2007. He is also a member of the Library Association of Singapore.
