Creating Collections

Collections are used to organize your references in your Mendeley Reference Manager.

You can create multiple Collections using the menu on the left side of the screen. Click on 'New Collection' to type in the name of your collection. 

 

You can then add references to the Collection to organize them. You can rename and delete these collections at any time by clicking on the 3 dots next to the Collection's name.
Note: that this will not affect any documents within the Collection.

Managing References

There are a few ways for you to manage your references in Mendeley Reference Manager. You can:

  • move multiple references at a time into Collections 
  • Favorite References
  • Export selected references for sharing

Attaching PDFs to references

You can edit any reference that exists in your Mendeley Reference Manager Library, including attaching PDFs or associated files with them by following the steps below.

  1. Select the reference that you would like to attach a PDF 
  2. Under the Info section, you can then click on the plus sign next to Files to add the PDF file and then simply close the reference to Save it.
