Staff Profile: Sri Deva Rani D/O Sammugam

Introduction

Sri has over 15 years of experience at NTU Library.

She is currently Assistant Manager in Open Science and Research Services, where she supports NTU faculty and researchers in open research practices, research data management, citation reporting, and scholarly publishing. Sri helps the research community understand and apply open access principles, improve research visibility, and guides faculty and researchers with their Scopus and Google Scholar profiles.

Professional Experience

  • July 2024 to current: Assistant Manager, Open Science and Research Services at NTU Library

Provides training and consultation on open research practices, research data management, and scholarly publishing. Prepares citation reports and supports research analytics using Scopus and SciVal. Advises faculty and researchers on managing profiles (ORCID, Scopus, Google Scholar) and understanding research metrics.

  • 2019 to 2024: Senior Executive, User Service and Space at NTU Library and Medical Library at Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine
    Developed and delivered training programs, streamlined workflows, supervised staff performance, and managed procurement and budget matters. Ensured smooth operations and high service standards across all libraries

Took on additional responsibilities:

  • Led a team to manage 50 student assistants across 7 NTU libraries centrally. Remotely coordinated from Novena Campus.

Began as Executive. Supported daily library operations including check-in/check-out, user assistance, facility maintenance, and security. Educated patrons on library systems, supported library orientations for freshmen and new staff, and assisted with library events.

  • Open Research: Supports open methods, data sharing and reuse, open code, open access, and offers guidance and checklists for researchers to follow open research workflows.

  • Researcher Visibility and Impact: Helps manage researcher profiles, improve research visibility, and prepare citation reports for promotion and tenure, using bibliometrics and tools such as Scopus and SciVal.

  • Publishing Support: Advises on open access publishing, supports applications for NTU’s Article Processing Charge (APC) funding, helps avoid predatory publishing, and assists with ISBN and ISSN applications.
