According to Oxford Bibliographies Online, "language documentation, also known as documentary linguistics, is the subfield of linguistics that deals with creating multipurpose records of languages through audio and video recording of speakers and signers and with annotation, translation, preservation, and distribution of the resulting materials."
This libguide introduces users to some recommended resources for language documentation, which has to do with the methods and tools (data collection methodologies) that are used to collect and record a natural language, especially those that are endangered.
